OPEN DAY
This WHOLE LAPARMEX COMMUNITY event is held every Autumn (Sept / Oct) on the grounds around the Lagoa Church of Our Lady of Light as “outreach” to the community at large. Every group active within the triple parish has the opportunity to run a stall and offer a taste of their activities. There are talks, book launches, things to buy, food and drinks tents, and in the evening music and dancing. All proceeds go towards the LAGOA FOODBANK.
Our International Community stall serves tea and cake and offers several games for children: modified Bingo, Guess the flag, and geographical quiz games with small prizes and treats for all. In 2025, we also had a hand made jewelery stall which was extremely successful.
ROSARY EVENINGS
Our group is invited to participate in the series of Rosary evenings which often precede a parish pilgrimage. We are invited to lead the Rosary in English. As Padre Nuno says, this prepares the pilgrims to hearing the Rosary in a different language during their pilgrimage.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
During Lent, the Parish runs Stations of the Cross every Friday and asks each Parish group to lead one of the Fridays. On occasion, the International Community has been asked to participate and read out a number of the Stations in English.
