This is an annual event held the week before Christmas (always on a Thursday) in the Amphitheatre behind the chapel in Carvoeiro to proclaim the birth of Jesus Christ – our Redeemer.
This natural performance space sees around 500 people gathering together from all parts of the Algarve, to sing Christmas carols in 5 different languages: English, French, German, Dutch and Portuguese.
We honour all the rich carolling traditions of these languages and share them with all ages. Children especially are encouraged to join in, ringing bells and singing.
It is a joyful learning experience for everyone and much appreciated by resident expat families wishing their children and grand-children to connect with their national traditions.
The event is sponsored by the parish and the Lagoa County council. It raises funds for the Casa de Nossa Senhora de Conceição (CNSC) – the “Portimão Girls’ Home’, and the LAGOA FOODBANK.
